I’m not sure I’ve made enough return to visits yet to fully digest Eels’ jaw-dropping album trilogy – “Hombre Lobo,” “End Times” and “Tomorrow Morning,” all released in a 14-month span in 2009-10 – but Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, is at work again. He has announced a new album “Wonderful, Glorious Eels” will arrive Feb. 5. And from the teaser song (called “the instant-gratification track” because you get an immediate download of it if you pre-order the album), both “wonderful” and “glorious” might apply. It’s as beat-heavy and down and dirty and steeped in retro cool and genre-mashing as anything the kids are doing. Wake up and smell the flowers.
