Stream: Barcelona, ‘Slipping Away’

Seattle indie-rock trio Barcelona is one of those bands whose name might be on the tip of your tongue had they not spent a couple years treading water with a major label. Their debut album “Absolutes,” self-released in 2007 and then remastered and re-released in ’09, was a lush, arching collection of soul-searching anthems, and songwriter Brian Fennell obviously had more where that came from. Barcelona’s follow-up “Not Quite Yours,” which came out in May, presses the same emotional buttons as the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, lyrically quick while musically safe, pretty ideal for movie moments if not the soundtrack to one of your more contemplative evenings.
