Yo La Tengo’s new album “Fade” will be out Jan. 15, and in today’s announcement it is said to recall 1997’s “I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One” and 2000’s “And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside out.” Well, that’s a mouthful, and it would be an earful. Few artists have covered so much sonic ground in their careers as Georgia Hubley, Ira Kaplan and James McNew. And their army of fans will be ready for anything after hearing today’s six-minute tease, “Before We Run,” a lovely, languid, horn-filled excursion. The visuals for the song premiere come courtesy of Georgia’s sister, Emily Hubley. Oh, and the fine print says the deluxe version of the album comes with a 7-inch containing a cover of Todd Rundgren’s “I Saw the Light.” This, we must hear.
||| Live: No West Coast dates here; it’d be nice if they were saving that for April in the desert.
