‣ They call Charles Bradley “The Screaming Eagle of Soul,” and the 64-year-old singer lands at UCLA’s Royce Hall tonight for a show that also features Daptone Records labelmates the Menahan Street Band, the New York City-based purveyors of instrumental funk and soul. Above, artists Mike Perry, Jim Stoten and Josh Cochran work to the Menahan Street Band’s “Ivory and Blue.”
Alice Cooper, the most recent inductee into the International Knife Throwers Hall Of Fame (it says here), headlines the Orpheum Thetre.
“Too Close” guy Alex Clare plays to a sold-out Fonda Theatre.
‣ Good local bills upstairs and down in Echo Park: Touché, Glow Marrow, Body Parts and Cayucas at the Echo, and Noah & the Megafauna, Killsonic and Tommy Santee Klaws at the Echoplex.
‣ And if you’re in the mood for something more intimate, Daniel Lanois and Rocco Deluca are teaming up for a show at the Community Church in Los Feliz (4953 Franklin Ave.).
