‣ Sufjan Stevens, who just released a five-EP set of holiday music titled “Silver & Gold,” brings his Christmas tour to the Fonda Theatre. Actually, he’s calling it “The Sirfjam Stephanapolous Christmas Sing-A-Long Seasonal Affective Disorder Spectacular Music Pageant Variety Show Disaster,” and it features a five-piece backing band that includes Rosie Thomas, Nedelle Torrisi, Casey Foubert, James McAlister, and Ben Lanz). The EP set is the second release of seasonal music by Stevens; in 2006 he released “Songs for Christmas.”
‣ Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band bring the “Wrecking Ball” tour to the Honda Center.
‣ Carole King will be celebrated at the Dolby Theatre, where the legendary songstress will perform alongside the likes of Alicia Keys, Amy Grant, Herb Alpert, John Legend, Katy Perry, Lani Hall and Vince Gill.
‣ No Doubt plays the fifth show in its run at the Gibson Amphitheatre, supported by Best Coast and Kitten.
‣ Freedy Johnston does a solo acoustic show with Tom Freund at Molly Malone’s.
‣ Young folk sextet Monsters Calling Home play to a sold-out Troubadour.
‣ And the Starvations play a “one-time only” reunion show at the Echo – it’s a benefit for author Joseph Mattson’s legal fun that also features Jail Weddings, Detective and LA Drugs.
