Above: The Weeknd plays the Orpheum on Saturday in support of his latest record “Triology,” which is a compilation of his 2011 mixtapes “House of Balloons,” “Thursday” and “Echoes of Silence.” That’s the Canadian R&B singer’s (warning: risqué) video for “Wicked Games,” which was a track off of “House of Balloons.”

@KRBronson recommends: I am tempted to cop out and just say, “Pick the excellent holiday fund-raising event of your choice and give generously,” but one rather stands out: KCRW’s Invisible Children Holiday Show on Saturday at the Troubadour. Headlining: DeVotchKa with a seven-piece string ensemble (they are also doing a sold-out show the night before at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.) The supporting cast, as they tend to do at KCRW events, gets a little eclectic – local artists White Arrows, Night Terrors of 1927, Whispertown and the Colourist.
@Seraphina_L recommends: Jessie Ware at the Bootleg Theater on Thursday. The soulful R&B Mercury Prize-nominated singer makes her L.A. debut in support of her first album “Devotion” (digitally out now via Cherrytree). She’s collaborated with electronic artists such as SBTRKT, Katy B and more, but the dark, sensual elements in her solo material is what has catapulted her name. Thursday’s show is one of only six dates that make up her first U.S. tour.  Jerome LOL opens.
