Ears Wide Open: He Met Her

There has been no iteration of music more common in the Buzz Bands LA inbox this year than “electro-pop duo.” (Though “folk duo” is a close second.) They proliferate wherever synthesizers and laptops are sold – boy/girl, boy/boy/ girl/girl, it doesn’t matter: They trade in nifty melodies, some stickier than others, and slick production. He Met Her, the pairing of Rocky Chance and Mowgli Moon, is one of those, making stylish pop come-ons with some hip-hop sprinkled on top. One distinction, though: He Met Her is the only band we know to have released music via an animated GIF lookbook. Their “Crime Novela” EP is bloody imaginative, and a fun way to cruise through 15 minutes of lightweight pop.
