Welcome to the beginning of your week:
‣ If it’s the first Monday of the month, it must be time for new residencies to kick off. Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights: The dancetastic Yellow Alex & the Feelings play the Satellite, with Nightmare & the Cat and Mirror Talk opening. It figures to be packed at the Bootleg Bar, where PAPA starts the big build-up toward releasing its debut album later this year, and Beat Club and Wardell open. Young psych-rockers Feeding People have a new album on the way via Innovative Leisure, and they kick off their Echo residency with support from Gap Dream, Blackfeet Braves and Spanish Moss. And at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana, Pop Noir comes out of hibernation with some new music, joined on opening night by Well Hung Heart and Cosbysweater.
‣ The first It’s a School Night of 2013 features Austin Brown (that would be Michael Jackson’s nephew, celebrating the release of his mixtape), Yuna and the Record Company at Bardot.
‣ Good lineup at the Viper Room, headed up by Dekades and Omniflux (and some surprise guests?).
‣ And Simone White (pictured) brings her lush, dreamy sounds to Los Globos, where the Ugly Sweaters and Eekis open.
