With their latest album “Holy Fire” produced by Flood & Alan Moulder, English rock band Foals has had a successful and strong comeback. But their lead single “Inhaler” may be a bit misleading as it diminishes the “tropical prog” and almost completely replaces it with a sinister hard rock foundation underneath the math rock elements. The Dave Ma-directed music video for the clip even presents a darker image alongside Yannis Philippakis’ rough vocals throughout the chorus, but those familiarly pinging guitars will still lead you to the lighter tracks on the rest of the album even if they are nowhere buoyant as tracks like “Blue Blood” off of “Total Life Forever.” “Holy Fire” is out now on Warner.
