There hasn’t been a friendly G-rated pop song that has rocketed up the charts this fast since Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song” in 2007, but Swiss-German duo Boy has found that same kind of charm in their break-out hit “Little Numbers.” Beyond the cutesy juxtaposition of naming their girl/girl duo Boy, the folk-pop on Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass’ debut “Mutual Friends’ (out now via Nettwerk Records) offers effortlessly tender vocals, bouncing melodies and turn-your-frown-upside-down narratives heavy on high spirit and redemption.
