It’s been a year and a half since quintet-turned-sextet NO released its free EP and defied the laws Googleable band names by becoming a favorite on the L.A. scene. So there were plenty of sing-alongs at the Echo Park band’s first big show of 2013 on Thursday when a sizable number of Eastsiders flocked to the Troubadour in West Hollywood. But there was surprises too – NO peppered its set list with seven new songs from a full-length they have in the works (and may possibly release by the end of the summer). Their anthems old and new went over well in the toasty club. Local fivesome James Supercave preceded with a strong set of its rhythmically challenging art-pop; they, too, are working on more recordings.
