Start your week off right:
‣ Indie-rock provocateurs Thao & the Get Down Stay Down headline the Troubadour behind their great new album “We the Common” – and, by the way, the band’s recent webisode series is recommended too. Portland’s Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside supports.
‣ Chicago folkie Angel Olsen, newly signed to Jajaguwar, visits the Echo behind her latest album “Half Way Home.” Villages and Paul Bergmann open.
‣ Great night all around for residencies – Hands moves from the Echo downstairs to the Echoplex (where Touché, Cuckoo Chaos and LA Font support); Chief holds forth at the Satellite (with Warships, the Last Internationale and In Leagues); it’s Gavin Turek, at the Bootleg (with the Diamond Light and Among Savages); the Wingard Manor takes over Los Globos; and Abbot Kinney starts a run of Mondays at the Silverlake Lounge.
‣ Audra Mae brings her almighty pipes to the Central SAPC.
‣ Oh, and Rihanna plays Staples Center.
