Who:Â Ben Howard at the Outdoor Theatre
In 3 or Fewer Words:Â Howard’s slow-burning heat.
Memorable Because: Even with sun still beating down harshly on our skin during his set in the 4 o’clock hour, London’s Ben Howard managed to attract a faithful crowd and cool everyone down with his lush folk orchestrations off of his latest album “Every Kingdom.” Howard and his band were kind and humble as they figured out a few sound issues. “It’s hot!” Howard said in an almost hushed tone. “Thanks for being patient.” Similarly, Howard’s repertoire flowed with tenderness and crescendoed with depth. Despite the heat, there was no drowsy factor here. It was a lovely moment to envelope his fans, making it difficult not to yearn a sunset to accompany his luminous set; his intelligently grim lyrics beckoned the night, after all.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at 2 Chainz:Â Â 2 lame.
