Green Day, such crowd-pleasers when they visited Pomona in March, came back around for a good old-fashioned arena show on Thursday and again thrilled a full house. The punk-rock veterans played for 2 1/2 hours (counting encores) on Thursday at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, touched on songs from every one of their albums and even tossed in a metal-to-pop medley that included “Satisfaction,” “Highway to Hell,” “Hey Jude” (with full-on crowd participation and “California Here I Come.” A 6-year-old got a chance to crowd-surf on a cross-generational night when fathers and sons and mothers and daughters could be seen singing along to the trio’s 20-plus years of music. The Bay Area-bred rockers released a trilogy of albums last year, “¡Uno!,” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tré!” L.A. quartet Best Coast opened the shot Photographer Carl Pocket compiled this gallery of the action.
It truely was an amazing night! I have been lucky enough to see Green Day four times since I was 11 years old and now im almost 20. Green Day never fails to put on a great show. They get so intimate with the crowd and make everyone feel right at home. Their music is such an inspiration and their fans are good to them just as Green Day has been good to the fans! Last night was the best, I recommend a Green Day show in everyones life haha (:
