The Blank Tapes

Particularly loving California today? Then you’ll have to make sure you crank up the Blank Tapes‘ latest single “Holy Roller.” Matt Adams, the brainchild behind the psychedelic trio (which includes Pearl Charles and D.A. Humphrey) continues to dispense sunny ’60s vibes, and this track suggests the days of touring the country in VW vans with peace signs painted on the sides. Appropriately titled “Vacation,” the Blank Tapes’ new record is an ode to their trek back to SoCal, where Adams spends his time when he’s not up in the Bay Area. It’s the first album recorded outside of his home studio, but there’s still something organic about “Holy Roller” that makes you appreciate hippies instead of scorn them. The single is a re-worked version of what will actually appear on the album, but the heart of it will still be there. “Vacation” is out May 14 via Antenna Farm Records.
