Anybody else remember how monumentally special Nine Inch Nails’ “Wave Goodbye” night on Sept. 11, 2009 at the Wiltern Theatre felt? Turns out it was just a goodbye-for-now. How to Destroy Angels mastermind Trent Reznor has brought his other project out of mothballs, announcing Wednesday that a new NIN album “Hesitation Marks” would be out Sept. 3. A 30-date fall tour is also planned, with Explosions in the Sky opening the November date at Staples Center. Described as having been “recorded in secret over the last year,” the album sees Reznor working with producers Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. The first single, “Came Back Haunted,” was released via iTunes today. It does not in the least sound like anybody who is retired.
