As they gear up for a summer festival tour (featuring a hologram Ol’ Dirty Bastard) and on the heels of their triumphant Coachella performances, the Wu-Tang Clan are back in the studio at work on a new project titled “A Better Tomorrow,” due out this fall to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their classic debut “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).” “It’s good to see the Wu-Tang family under one roof,” Masta Killa spits to kick it all off, and he couldn’t be more right. Trading verses with Method Man and Ghostface Killa, they paint a wonderful picture of an intimate, perfect summer BBQ, how far they have come, and give shout-outs to those they’ve lost along the way. (Ghostface’s verse mostly recalls the craziness of O.D.B., and how they’ll rep him forever.) Wu-Tang mastermind RZA provides the production, sampling the O’Jays’ classic 1975 album title track of the same name, shaping a soulful, feel-good tune that swells with strings, horns, and Eddie Levert’s lifted hooks. “Family Reunion” is available as a limited edition 7″ through Soul Temple Music. Bump it at your perfect summer BBQ.
