Video: The xx, ‘Fiction’

Oh, the brooding. The xx won a Mercury Prize for their self-titled debut in 2010, and they continue to go strong with melancholic atmospherics on their the sophomore record “Coexist” (out now via Young Turks). Young Replicant, a/k/a Alex Takacs, also returns as director for clip accompanying the xx’s track “Fiction” to further illustrate Oliver Sim and co.’s foray into dark beauty. Sim stares off into the distance in a house where his bandmates sleep and the pool’s reflections bounce in tandem with the song’s beats only to be drawn out to the woods for some extreme swaying. “Fiction” is slated for a July 16 release on a 7-inch single with its the B-side “Together,” which can be heard in the closing credits of Baz Luhrmann’s film The Great Gatsby.
