L.A. quartet Allah-Las wrapped up the first month of the inaugural FIGat7th Downtown Festival with a set of their signature retro-jangly jams on a night that also featured the disco-schtick of silly New Agers Prince Rama and the taut indie-rock of Gothic Tropic. Future Friday night performances will be feature Akron/Family, Red Baraat and (on July 26) PAPA, NO and LA Font. The downtown festival is the latest in a burgeoning number of free outdoor music (and sometimes arts) events that have commandeered parks, plazas, museums, beaches and even parking decks throughout L.A. This one, in a plaza between a retail center and office complex, is a short walk off Figueroa (public transportation recommended), or a slightly more labyrinthine walk from the parking deck (pro tip: take elevator to Level 8, then exit). The downside: The bar and food are three levels below the plaza.
