Happy Friday … Or, What Decade Is It, Anyway?
‣ Resurgent ’90s garage-punk trio the Oblivians [pictured], whose new album “Desperation” (their first in 15 years, and produced by Dan Auerbach) was just released, headlines Murica Fest at the Echoplex, supported by Intelligence, Milk Music, Destruction Unit, Fuzz, Kent State, the Lamps, Hausu and FF.
‣ New Jack Swing lives, for a night, as Guy, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Dru Hill, SWV and Al B. Sure rock the party at the Greek Theatre.
‣ It’s New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men at the Staples Center.
‣ Psychedelic folk singer Linda Perhacs, whose “lost” 1970 album was re-released last decade and who is now working on new music with a cadre of young musicians, plays a Dublab-presented night at Levitt Pavilion Pasadena.
‣ And Karla Bonoff and Wendy Waldman, who worked together in Bryndle as well as had stellar solo careers, reunite for a performance at Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park.
