Incan Abraham-CP-6-7-2013a

With last year’s “Springhouse” EP, L.A. quartet Incan Abraham set the bar high for its polyrhythmic psych-pop, weaving its layers of electronics and vocals together in a finespun fabric seemingly tethered to little except their own (admittedly estimable) fancy. The band’s new single for White Iris, “Tuolumne” is a more taut affair. Collaborating with Lewis Pesacov (Fool’s Gold, Foreign Born) and Clinton Welander (Jimmy Cliff) to produce the new release, the band sticks to a more linear, insistent groove and, as SPIN suggested when it premiered the song, evokes a little Police along the way. It’ll stick with you.
