Here’s a band to go along with your sunny-side-up eggs. L.A. quartet Breakfast – Andrea Adolph, Max Bussell, Sean Dwyer and Luciano Russo – make the kind of music that jolts you like that morning cup of coffee. Breakfast’s buoyant beats sparkle underneath Adolph’s bright vocals in songs such as “Only Way to Go” Â and “Grizzly Adams.” Others like “Scarred,” off of their debut “Sun/Moon,” showcase her vocal chops even further. Her range ebbs and flows with the band’s atmospherics, which can offer anything from a synth-pop anchor (“Dubai”) to a twinkling piano foundation (“Valsa Triste”). Adolph and Russo’s vocals also playfully tug back and forth between verses on tracks such as “The Park” to mix it up throughout the record. Â Breakfast, whose name came from the fictional band Bussell and his brother created as children, carries a sound that is youthful, but there is also an admirable audacity within their arrangements.
