Road trip, anyone? Titus Andronicus, Milo Greene, Wild Nothing, Ra Ra Riot, the Features, Caveman and Pictureplane are among the featured performers in conjunction with the sixth annual San Diego Music Thing, a mini-South by Southwest-styled music conference held in the North Park district of San Diego. The festival runs Sept. 13-14, with New Politics headlining a kickoff party on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Keynote speakers for the conference are Mike Herrera of MxPx and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, the latter of whom will showcase her new project Body/Head. Panels will cover radio promotion, music supervision, pitching to the media, social media marketing, finding affordable health care as an indie artist, tour marketing, songwriting and music distribution.

Passes range from a “super badge” ($75) to a regular two-day badge ($50) to a one-day wristband ($25). More info here.

Besides Milo Greene, L.A. bands will be strongly represented at the shows – FIDLAR, Gram Rabbit, Avid Dancer, In the Valley Below, the Dead Ships, Harriet, Irontom, A House for Lions, Torches, Beat Club, Soft Metals, Terraplane Sun, Sad Robot and Wardell are among the bands making the trip down the I-5.
