If you’re going through some My Bloody Valentine withdrawal after FYF Fest, Tape Deck Mountain may be the next best thing. Back in May, the Brooklyn via San Diego trio of fuzz aficionados helmed by Travis Trevisan released the roaring “Always Lie” in anticipation of their sophomore record and follow-up to their “Slow Salvation” EP. Now, they’ve also got a release date and a title: “Sway” is slated for an Oct. 1 via Trevisan’s own label Nineteen98, along with a new single titled “Pretend Friends,” which features a spiraling wall of guitars. Heavily brooding, a tone Tape Deck Mountain has mastered, the track is one of the many songs written during Trevisan’s year-long stint in Austin, Texas. “Sway” also comes to listeners with the help of the monstrous drumming and support of John Momberg (X-Appleseed Cast). Grab your headphones (you’ll most likely need a good pair of earplugs for their live show) and enter shoegaze nirvana.
