Mindy Jones has proven a versatile vocalist, whether plying her trade with Moby on his latest album “Innocents” or teaming with Daniel Ahearn in both the folk and pop incarnations of Daniel Ahearn & the Jones. She steps out on her own, as The Jones, on a forthcoming EP, which is anchored by the single “Mercy.” It’s a lovely slow-motion entreaty written by Ahearn and produced by Moby himself. The torchy ballad contrasts with DA & the Jones’ recent electro-based material (“Break My Heart” from the EP “Electric Love” recently found its way onto TV’s “Pretty Little Liars”) as well as Jones’ beautiful folk-pop duets with Ahearn on the previous release “It’s Not You, It’s Us” (2012). Light some candles, “The Jones” will be out next month.
