Sometimes neighbors can be loud but still lovable, and Seattle-based garage-pop quartet Neighbors has that exact charm when it comes to their tunes. Sure, they may favor PBR over your Pinot Noir, but they’ll lay down a mean guitar riff and spit out lyrics with that Stephen Malkmus-like snarl. Their latest collection of songs, “Power Country” – which they’ll only be carrying with them on tour – is a an exuberant ride over seven songs. Songs such as “Muscle Grrl on Muscle Beach” (featuring fellow Seattle artist Lexi Lee on vocals) sound more like they wrote it under the SoCal sun while other songs such as “Hot Jack” boasts that grungy, slacker attitude that’s a bit more rough around the edges. Neighbors aren’t claiming to be the most sophisticated dudes and that’s fine; they’re clever and fun as hell. “Power Country” is also digitally available via Bandcamp.
