Swedish New Wave band the Sounds acquired their breakthrough with the album “Living in America,” but songs like “Tony and the Beat” and “Queen of Apology” off their sophomore album “Dying to Say This to You” were what brought them to hungry fans over in the States. Flash forward 11 years later, and  Maya Ivarsson and the gang are preparing the release of their fifth studio album “Weekend.” While new songs like “Shake Shake Shake” still cater to fans of catchy sing-shout lyrics, the title track is a bit more subdued. There’s a chorus repetitive enough to memorize within the first listen, but stripped of they heavy synths for one of the more organic tunes released by the Sounds. “Weekend” is slated for an Oct. 29 release via Arnioki Records and INgrooves.
