Great things on a Thursday:
‣ Mazzy Star, back with “Seasons of Your Day,” the band’s first album since 1996 headlines the Wiltern Theatre.
‣ The Gaslamp Killer plays a special show at the Mayan Theatre – it’s a fundraiser for the L.A. producer, born William Benjamin Bensussen, who still faces hefty medical bills after this summer’s near-fatal scooter accident.
‣ Wu-Tang man GZA joins up with Jonwayne and more for a night at the Echoplex.
‣ Ab-Soul and Joey Bada$$ bring their “Smokers Club” tour to the Fonda Theatre.
‣ Blues stalwarts the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band visit the Mint, supported by Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants and Hang Dog Expression.
‣ Those Darlins [see our October post] headline the Echo behind last month’s release of their third album “Blur the Lines.” Diane Coffee (Shaun Fleming of Foxygen) and Jesus Sons open.
‣ And Tired Pony – the supergroup fronted by Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody – does the first of two nights at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery behind its new album “The Ghost of the Mountain.” That’s the video for “All Things at Once,” above.
Note: Jonathan Wilson’s headlining show at the Troubadour has been postponed “due to a medical emergency in the band,” he announced on his website. Stay tuned for a makeup date.
