Video: Graham Colton, ‘Born to Raise Hell’

Oklahoma-bred rock ’n’ roller Graham Colton has had his share of moments in a roller-coaster career – 2004’s “Drive” getting him on the radar and 2007’s “Here Right Now” and 2011’s “Pacific Coast Eyes” keeping him in the public eye thanks to supporting tours with a host of A-listers. Having departed a major label, Colton takes a new tack on his forthcoming solo release “Lonely Ones” (due Jan. 21). The first single “Born to Raise Hell” is shimmering psych-pop, in part owing to some advice he got from fellow Oklahoma Citian Wayne Coyne. “Wayne loaned me some keyboards and told me to push buttons and songs would appear,” Colton said. “And they did!” “Born to Raise Hell’s” sanguine melody contrasts with the song’s dark theme; the video directed by LAMAR+NIK weaves the story of a troubled youth’s spiral into violence.
