It’s Monday again, already:
‣ Long-running rock provocateurs Sparks hold forth at the Fonda Theatre; the band in August released “Sparks: New Music for Amnesiacs, the Ultimate Collection,” a four-CDs-in-a-coffee-table-book package that spans Sparks’ four-plus-decade career.
‣ The annual Dear Jack Benefit at the El Rey Theatre will feature the first solo performance by with Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin, Something Corporate), the Dear Jack Foundation’s benefactor. McMahon is a leukemia survivor, having been diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in 2005 before receiving a stem cell transplant from his sister. Above, the video for “Synethesia,” from his new solo release “The Pop Underground.”
‣Diane Coffee, the nom de tune of Foxygen’s Shaun Fleming, plays It’s a School Night at Bardot along with Misun, Bad Suns and J Litt.
‣ Of Montreal visits Largo behind its new album “Lousy With Sylivanbriar.”
‣ And the November residencies continue in earnest – Night Terrors of 1927 at the Echo (with Fever the Ghost, Among Savages and Kid Cadaver), Body Parts at the Satellite (with Mt. Ossa, J. Laser and Leopold & His Fiction); Wunder Wunder and Lovelife at the Bootleg Bar (with Phil Beaudreau with Dawaun Parker and Smoke Season) and Mars & the Massacre at the Silverlake Lounge (with Ingenue, Naked Walrus and Boobie Tuesday).
