Thank you, Carson Daly, for a weird – or shall we say an eclectic – night of music. The Troubadour on Tuesday hosted the late-night TV host and radio personality’s curated lineup of songwriters for another round of the event “Write the Night 2.” While the evening’s bill featured everything from bluegrass to folk to alternative rock, there was no doubt about the club was holding some of today’s most talented songwriters. L.A. artist included Vanish Valley and Jenny O. and visiting artists included Robbie Fulks (who had to leave immediately after his set because he was going to become a grandfather for the first time the next morning) and husband-wife duo Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion (Guthrie is the daughter of Arlo Guthrie and granddaughter of Woody Guthrie). L.A.-based French songwriter and actress SOKO closed out the night (and toted a couple of members of L.A.’s NO in her new live band) with a few new songs, as well as material from her U.S. debut “I Thought I Was An Alien.”
