Can we get a hallelujah? A from-way-down-deep “whoa-oh?” At least a blast of harmonica? There, that’s better. The Record Company’s new “Feels So Good” EP is out today – five more soulful missives from the L.A. trio whose revivalesque shows have been bringing smiles to the faces of everybody, including, probably, the ghost of John Lee Hooker. For the threesome – singer-guitarist Chris Vos, bassist Alex Stiff and drummer Marc Cazorla – it’s a follow-up to 2012’s “Superdead” EP, plus a covers collection that saw them take on the Beastie Boys, the Grateful Dead an the Stooges. “Feels So Good” (some might recognize the title track from the movie trailer for “Last Vegas”) sees the trio doing the same delicate dance with homage familiar to many blues revivalists. But something in the marriage of Vos’ countrified vocals and the ramrod bottom end from Stiff and Cazorla keep their songs raw and real. It’s the blues, after all; no need to bludgeon me with it.
