Los Angeles producer/rapper/songwriter Jonezen, neé Chris Jones, just released the music video for “Dedications,” the first single from his forthcoming album “Beautiful Disaster.” It was directed by Raul Perez, and follows his win at the Los Angeles Music Awards for Best Hip-Hop Artist. Following an arrest, doctors told Jonezen that his excessive drinking may kill him within a year, but he refused into go into rehab unless he could bring his recording equipment. He discovered a facility in Los Angeles that would let him do just that, and once he entered treatment, he began working on the “Live From Rehab” mixtape released earlier this year. Upon leaving rehabilitation, he landed a distribution deal through Famous Records / Fontana / Universal. “Dedications” is full of atmospheric production, a piano and synth-driven melody, with string tones and moody background harmonies propelled by muffled drum beats and his rapid-fire flow. “Beautiful Disaster” is due out in March 2014.
