Videos: Broken Bells, ‘After the Disco,’ Parts 1 and 2

Broken Bells – the mind-meld of James Mercer of the Shins and Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse) have a sophomore album coming in the new year. It’s titled “After the Disco” (aside: if only it were so) and what we’ve heard so far sounds like the Bee Gees in outer space. The duo is rolling out the album (due Jan. 14) with an ambitious “mini-film” directed by Jacob Gentry, produced by POPfilms and released via the Creators Project. The film stars Anton Yelchin as Joe, who falls for a spacesuit-clad Helen (Kate Mara). Science fiction-like things ensue. The first two parts of “After the Disco” are out, and you don’t even need cable TV’s Syfy Channel to watch. Enjoy both of them after the jump:
Everything I’ve heard so far from the new Broken Bells album has been amazing. I don’t even feel bad in saying that After The Disco will be an Album of the Year contender for 2014;
