@KRBronson recommends: Maybe it’s the vague nostalgia of the holiday season, but this week I’m all about Matthew Sweet, who’s headlining the Echo on Thursday night. Best known, of course, for this, Sweet most recently released a covers collaboration with Susanna Hoffs (they are playing tonight at Largo), but his 2011 “Modern Art” was another in his catalog of power-pop gems.

@Seraphina_L recommends: Catch the Wild Reeds before their December residency over at the Satellite is over. It’s a warm night of folk music also featuring guests Lonesome Leash, the Far Country, Blac & Jesus & the Experimentalists and Triple Chicken Foot.
