Happy Jan. 2:

‣ Think of this as a wake-up call for the new year: London garage-rockers the Jim Jones Revue play their first West Coast show in two years at the Viper Room.
‣ Satellite Nights – the Silver Lake venue’s annual run of free shows (eight in 2014) to kick off the new year – starts tonight with disco alchemist Baron von Luxxury and resurgent synth-pop maestro D/A/D.
‣ And long-running L.A. prog-rock quintet Spain, a new album in the works with producer Gus Seyffert, kicks off a Thursday night residency at the Hotel Café.
