Ears Wide Open: Flybys

Jon Siebels was most recently spotted in the original-lineup reunion of Eve 6, who returned in 2012 with their first album in nine years. As a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, label chief and developer of new talent, Siebels has never been far from the creative process, though, having worked with Monsters Are Waiting, Kenan Bell and Hesta Prynn, among others. Now, fans of vintage guitar rock will be happy to learn Siebels has something new up his sleeve – Flybys. The five songs on the band’s new “Your Mother’s Love” EP (out this week), co-written with Eve 6’s Max Collins, are hard-charging affairs that will appeal to followers of his original band, and maybe fans of ’60s and ’70s power-pop as well. We’re already harmonizing with that chorus in the title track.
