Avant-garde pop act Xiu Xiu has canceled a 30-date North American tour – which was due to start Feb. 19 in Santa Barbara and end March 26 at the Echo – because of problems singer Jamie Stewart is having with his voice. “I have been having increasing trouble with my throat for years, and this week my doctor advised me not to sing for at least two months or risk losing it permanently,” Stewart said in a release from the band. “Hopefully, as soon as possible, we will be able reschedule these dates.” The band’s latest album, “Angel Guts: Red Classroom,” came out last week.
