Conor Oberst sounds as if he’s in a happy place. The Bright Eyes/Desaparecidos main man today released a chipper new single, “Hundreds of Ways,” and announced that he has signed to Nonesuch Records, which will release his new album “Upside Down Mountain” on May 20. The album features production from L.A. luminary Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Dawes), and the first single has background vocals from Swedish siblings First Aid Kit. Speaking of Dawes, the L.A. quartet will join Oberst on a national tour (no southern California dates as of yet) as “special guests” and as the Omaha-bred songwriter’s backing band.
