Local music … on television?

That will become a reality March 4 when public television giant KCET and listener-supported radio station KCSN (88.5 FM) launch “Studio A,” an original music program to showcase some of the bounty of talent from southern California. The show will air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. and repeat Fridays at 10 p.m., when it will be simulcast on KCSN.

An appearance by Chelsea Wolfe will kick off the show next week. The roster of artists lined up after that includes Chicano Batman, Best Coast, Run River North, Noah and the Megafauna, the Internet, Deap Vally and Aloe Blacc, among others.

“We’re excited to offer a unique music series to KCET viewers who are passionate about the diverse musical landscape in Southern California,” Juan Devis, executive producer of the new series and vice president of arts and culture programming at KCETLink, said in this morning’s press release.

Said Mark Sovel, KCSN’s music director: “KCET is a cultural icon in Southern California. 88.5 KCSN is honored to partner on a series like ‘Studio A,’ as we share a commitment to giving a voice to the wide range of extraordinary talent in our city.”

“Studio A” has a Facebook page for updates.
