New Jersey duo Christian Peslak and Steve Marion have been playing music with each other even before Marion recruited Peslak as his guitarist for the wonky rock project Delicate Steve. In fact, they’ve been collaborating with each other since their high school days and their musical friendship comes though again as Saint Rich. This new exclusive partnership highlights Peslak on vocals; he sings Marion’s whimsical melodies with bemusement. This can be especially be heard on the sarcastic track “Officer.” Other songs on their debut “Beyond the Drone” include “Sorry/Sadly,” where Peslak’s lyrical aim is cleaner but Marion provides a rollicking backdrop. “Beyond the Drone” is out now via Merge. They also have the “Casual Freefall” EP, co-released with Dr. Dog, whom they are currently on tour with.
