Some artists slow down when they reach a certain age, Lucinda Williams allowed Thursday night at the Canyon, but not her. “I’m getting more prolific,” she said. And active. Williams first visit to the Agoura Hills club was her seventh in a 10-date run of southern California venues coinciding with the 25th anniversary re-release of her debut album. Williams played some new songs from a forthcoming album as well as favorites from her catalog, including an encore that included “Joy,” from 1998’s “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road,” featuring a cameo by longtime guitarist Doug Pettibone. Since Pettibone is touring with John Mayer, Stuart Mathis (the Wallflowers) has been Williams’ guitarist for this tour, joining a band that includes drummer Butch Norton, bassist David Sutton and backup vocalist Gia Ciambotti, daughter of the late John Ciambotti, Williams’ bass player on “Car Wheels.” The Kenneth Brian Band opened the show.
