Toronto jazz-hop trio BADBADNOTGOOD are one of the most diverse and interesting young bass-drum-keyboard outfits out there. Their love for hip-hop is evident in their sound, having backed Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator on stage, produced for Danny Brown and Earl Sweatshirt, and covered A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Gucci Mane and Kanye West on their first two albums. After releasing the trip-hoppy “Hedron” and shape-shifting genre-jumper “CS60,” they are back with “Can’t Leave The Night,” the third song to emerge from their forthcoming third album “III.” It’s a dark and textured affair with a murky melody that builds to a hard-hitting double-time conclusion — you ever heard a jazz band make trap music? Now you have. BADBADNOTGOOD’s album “III” is out May 6 via Innovative Leisure.
