Who: Kate Nash in the Gobi Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Real “Girl Talk”
Memorable Because: Kate Nash’s evolution from “Foundations” to where she is now is fodder for an exhaustive magazine piece (somebody save me some Googling and send me a link, because now I’m interested), but the snapshot derived from Friday’s 45-minute outing portrays her as a provocateur worth heeding. “Girl Talk” is the name of her latest album; it sounded edgy and punky as Nash (and her band) – all dressed up for the anti-prom – cruised through the set playing a bass emblazoned with FIDLAR’s logo. If you’re not keen to the L.A. skatepunks, FIDLAR stands for F*ck It Dog Life’s a Risk. And so is everything else.
