Who:Â AlunaGeorge in the Gobi tent
In 3 or Fewer Words:Â Loud and sexy
Memorable Because:Â Despite suffering from a sound difficulties on stage, AlunaGeorge took the stage in high fashion. Aluna Francis, George Reid and company were many of the electro acts playing Sunday evening, but the same kind of strutting from other bands was highly unlikely. Francis’ bright vocals, never quite cooing but still seductive, cut through the beats for one slick set. Whether the electro-R&B duo from London was bumping “Attracting Flies” or “Best Believing” or getting in the mood with “Your Drums, You Love,” AlunaGeorge dismissed any earlier woes with style, texture and melody. They even pumped up Disclosure fans with a cover of “White Noise,” on which Francis provides vocals. But no AlunaGeorge set would be complete without their other cover. Reviving the old school classic yet again, AlunaGeorge won the crowd with their cover of Montel Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It.” An appropriate sentiment for the show, this blogger thinks.
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Neutral Milk Hotel:Â Don’t worry, I made it there too. I just have no proof.
