Ears Wide Open: Seahaven

Seahaven, the Torrance-based quartet of Kyle Soto, Michael Craver, Mike DeBartolo and James Phillips, has gained quite the following since their tour with Touché Amoré earlier this year. Now that they’ve released their sophomore album “Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only,” however, they’re out on the road as the headlining band this time around. With songs that range from the initially sinister but eventually surf-punk-happy “Flesh” to the lilting “Silhouette (Latin Skin),” Seahaven’s writing chops are nothing less than enjoyable. “Reverie” and “escapism” are bold descriptions of their own music, but it wouldn’t be too hard to get lost in what they have to offer. Variety and cohesion are rarely in tandem, but these guys have figured it out. “Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only” is out now via Run For Cover Records.
