KCRW Summer Nights serving up free concerts from Pasadena to downtown to Santa Monica

KCRW’s stamp will be all over the Southern California live music again scene this summer.
The fifth annual KCRW Summer Nights series – part of which was announced this morning – is highlighted by the return of live music to the Annenberg Space for Photography, “Made in L.A.” club nights at the Hammer Museum; and the popular Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier. In all, the series comprises free, live shows at six venues:
- One Colorado – Lo-Fang plays the Pasadena venue on June 7 (with DJ Dan Wilcox) in conjunction with Make Music Pasadena. Kan Wakan plays June 21, joined by DJ Marion Hodges.
- Chinatown Summer Nights – KCRW DJs rock the dance stage on June 14 (Travis Holcombe and Mario Cotto); July 12 (Jason Bentley and Liza Richardson) and Aug. 9 (Raul Campos and Anthony Valadez). - Grand Performances at California Plaza – KCRW’s name will be on nine of these shows, the lineup for which was announced in April.
- Made in L.A. at the Hammer Museum – Series kicks off July 10, with De Lux and DJ Mathieu Schreyer. Then: July 17 with Alex Ebert and Crash with DJ Liza Richardson; July 24 with Rocky Dawuni and DJs Jeremy Sole & Glenn Red (Afro Funké); July 31 with DEEP DJs and Doc Martin and KCRW’s Raul Campos.
- Annenberg Space for Photography – Two shows, July 26 and Aug. 2, will be mounted in conjunction with the museum’s “Country in the City” exhibition. Artists to be announced.
- Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier – Runs every Thursday from July 10 to Sept. 11. The lineups are expected to be announced sometime this week. UPDATE: Here’s the lineup.
