‣ Folk-pop craftsman Matt Pond PA marks the 10-year anniversary of his brilliant album “Emblems” at the Roxy, part of a tour on which he’s playing the whole record. The Lighthouse and the Whaler open. This song from “Emblems” was always our favorite.
‣ L.A. dream-pop quartet Superhumanoids headline the Echoplex and the equally dreamy Cardiknox opens.
‣ Bay Area psych-rock explorers Howlin’ Rain, who just released a double-LP live album, play the Echo, supported by Buffalo Killers and Elisa Randazzo.
‣ Birds & Batteries frontman Mike Sempert [see “Oceans of Rock and Roll”] celebrates the release of his solo album “Mid Dream” with a show at El Cid, where he’s joined by the Steve Taylor Band, Two Sheds and We Are the West.
‣ San Francisco’s Papercuts visit the Satellite behind their new album “Life Among the Savages,” with Line & Circle and Young Hunting supporting.
‣ Magic Wands, hard at work on their sophomore album, are part of big local bill at the Troubadour that includes Planets, Jail Weddings and Gateway Drugs.
‣ And Taylor Locke – with a new band and a batch of new songs – joins Raw Fabrics [see “Down the Drain”] for a show at Amplyfi.
