Roll the Tanks’ new album “Broke Til Midnight” sounds as red-white-and-blue as a backyard barbecue, so today feels like an excellent day to share. The quartet of singer-guitarist Danny Carney, guitarist Aaron Stuart, bassist Mike Wakeman and Joe Sirois signed to Epitaph Records in April, bringing with them 13 spine-stiffening songs cut from the cloth of the classic rockers and proto-punks who came before them. With none clocking in at more than 3 1/2 minues, Roll the Tanks’ sharp guitar volleys are delightfully unfussy – they get straight to the shout-along choruses and in and out of your face before you want to give ’em the boot. The foursome is marking this week’s release by playing pop-up shows Tuesday at four Floyd’s 99 Barbershops locations (Venice, Santa Monica, Hollywood and Burbank). Talk about cut and run.
