First Monday of the month, which means …
‣ French Style Furs – the new trio that is two-third Cold War Kids (Nathan Willett and Matt Maust) and one-third We Barbarians (Nathan Warkentin) – kick off their residency at the Satellite, supported by Spencer Moody & the Anzalone’s and Strange Vine.
‣ At the Echo, Joel Jerome & Babies on Acid holds down the residency, supported on opening night by Tashaki Miyaki, Globelamp and Los Kinkos.
‣ Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues does an intimate show at the Troubadour, supported by Mike Dawes.
‣ Hudson celebrates the release of its “In the Unknown” EP with a show at the Viper Room.
‣ U.K. trio Until the Ribbon Breaks has the residency at the Bootleg HiFi, with Gallant, Misun and Kilo Varga supporting. Above, UTRB’s video for “Pressure.”
‣ Nacosta, whose album “Under the Half Moon” came out in March, kicks off a string of Monday nights at the Silverlake Lounge. Genre-mashing quintet the Burning of Rome (whose own release, “Year of the Ox” came out two weeks ago, supports, along with Madus and Fairy Bones.
‣ And It’s a School Night at Bardot features an acoustic set from the Preatures along with appearances by Dawn Golden, Empires and the Ruse.
