French Style Furs – the new trio that is two-third Cold War Kids (Nathan Willett and Matt Maust) and one-third We Barbarians (Nathan Warkentin) – kick off their residency at the Satellite, supported by Spencer Moody & the Anzalone’s and Strange Vine.
‣ At the Echo, Joel Jerome & Babies on Acid holds down the residency, supported on opening night by Tashaki Miyaki, Globelamp and Los Kinkos.
Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues does an intimate show at the Troubadour, supported by Mike Dawes.
Hudson celebrates the release of its “In the Unknown” EP with a show at the Viper Room.
‣ U.K. trio Until the Ribbon Breaks has the residency at the Bootleg HiFi, with Gallant, Misun and Kilo Varga supporting. Above, UTRB’s video for “Pressure.”
Nacosta, whose album “Under the Half Moon” came out in March, kicks off a string of Monday nights at the Silverlake Lounge. Genre-mashing quintet the Burning of Rome (whose own release, “Year of the Ox” came out two weeks ago, supports, along with Madus and Fairy Bones.
‣ And It’s a School Night at Bardot features an acoustic set from the Preatures along with appearances by Dawn Golden, Empires and the Ruse.
